Blanco County Friends of the Night Sky has several volunteer opportunities. You can check them out at Volunteer Opportunities.
The day was a bit windy; we were busy securing our handouts at first but as things settled down, we visited with a lot of people throughout the day. Barbara Hudson, David Loose, Elizabeth Miller, and Vicki Guidry handed out 6 motion detector bulbs and about 16 flat bottomed light bulbs to folks who stopped by to chat. We hope these “night sky friendly” bulbs make a big difference for those who received them and that they’ll tell their neighbors about them.
We had a special visitor, Sunshine Camp helped us out for a while. She and her husband Rusty are members of the Hill Country Astronomers.
Thanks to all for your help with setting up and taking down the booth; especially Joe Guidry.
UPDATE: Our contractor is having a little trouble finding someone to help finish the work due to summer vacations. He hopes to have the work completed in the next month or so.
